#JemReviews: Leiania House of Beauty Vit. C & E Collagen Serum Concentrate

Hello Loves!

Today, I will be sharing with you my first impressions and final thoughts on a face serum produced by a Philippine local brand. I decided to give this a try since I am trying to support Filipino brands. 🙂

So, here we go, read on.

Physical Attributes:
The serum is contained in a dark green colored glass bottle with a dropper to dispense the product. It comes with 30 ml worth of the product.

The serum has a yellow color when I first opened it and it turned to to dark yellow color after a few months. it has a slightly strong smell that might be too offensive for those who are sensitive to products with a strong smell. It also has a watery consistency.

The product can be easily dispensed using the dropper. You will just need a small amount of the serum as 3 to 4 drops can cover your entire face and neck area. I just place one drop on my forehead, one each on my cheeks and one on my neck area, and gently massage it all over my face, not including my eyelids. The serum has a watery consistency, so you have to be fast in applying it so that it will not run off from your face and stain your clothes.
As a tip, I place a drop first and then spread the product all over before proceeding to the next drop.

Upon application, the serum dries out fast and leaves a slightly sticky feeling afterwards leaving a very faint yellowish tint in your face.

First Impressions & Review:
My first impression was disappointment in terms of packaging. When I ordered this serum, it was still displayed in its old packaging.

But instead, I received this new packaging –

I admit, I am a packaging junkie and presentation is important for me. One of the reasons that I decided to try this product was because of its “lux” packaging. It doesn’t look like it only costs 200 bucks. But when it arrived, I was a bit disappointed with what I got. I  immediately went to their store in BeautyMNL and alas! The packaging was indeed changed. I had no hard feelings about it, but they could’ve at least included a note saying that  I will be receiving a new version of the product.

Second, upon opening the bottle, the smell of the serum was really strong and offensive for me. I was taken aback by how unpleasant the smell was. It smelled like burnt chemical or a very strong  sharp tangy smell, maybe because of the Vit. C content. I had to hold my breath in using the serum for the first few days. I got used to it afterwards, but I still don’t like the smell.

Third, the color of the serum which is dark yellow, tends to leave a light yellow stain in my face. It’s not really a problem since I have a yellow undertone so it just fades into my skin tone. However, there have been several instances wherein the serum runs  off my face and falls into my clothes, leaving a yellow stain in it, like children’s vitamins syrup. I really had to spread the product well and quickly all over my face to avoid uneven yellow stains in my face and on my clothes.

Fourth, now let’s talk about its performance. It claims to refine and firm the texture of my skin. The serum actually leaves a slightly sticky surface after application, and has that slightly tightening effect afterwards. Although, that tightening effect tends to fade away after I layer it with night cream and sleeping mask. I have dark under eyes and I was hoping that it can lessen the discoloration, but it did not.

My face skin condition during the first week of using the serum –

My last week of using the serum –

Although it leaves a thin yellow stain in my face, but it does not give an instant brightening effect. I can say though that it improved my skin complexion a little bit.

  • Affordable.
  • Locally produced.
  • It has an instant tightening effect.
  • It can slightly improve the complexion after a few weeks of continued usage.
  • It dries fast.
  • Available in BeautyMNL where you can easily buy it and be delivered to your doorstep quickly.

  • Very strong and sharp smell that I find offensive.
  • It is only available online.
  • It can leave a yellow stain on you face  and on your clothes.
  • Too runny, you need to apply it quick.

Overall, this is an average product. It can deliver, but for optimal results, I think you will need one more bottle to finish and see better skin complexion.

Will I be buying this serum again? Honestly, no.  It may be affordable, but for its smell and performance, it’s not really that impressive. 😦

That was it guys, I hope you find this review helpful.
